In May 2020, Oliver was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. As friends and family asked how they could help, his family made one simple request: send a patch. Those patches were sewn onto a jean jacket Oliver wore to hospital visits — his “warrior jacket.” What began as a small gesture grew into more than 2,000 patches and a powerful reminder that he was surrounded by love. From that idea, the Oliver Patch Project was born.
Their mission is to create community and lift up kids facing serious illnesses, helping them feel strong, celebrated, and supported during life’s hardest moments. Through colorful, uplifting designs and meaningful patch collections, they remind children that they are powerful and never alone.
When Freya was battling leukemia, Oliver Patch Project donated a hospital go-bag covered in patches for our family—her warrior bag. That bag became a conversation starter, a source of pride, and a visible reminder that we were part of a bigger community of warriors.
We are so grateful for what this organization represented to our family and Freya’s warrior bag will always be one of our favorite reminders of her brave battle. Her bag hangs on her hook and reminds us to be a brave warrior like Freya. If you’re looking for a meaningful way to support children facing cancer, consider purchasing a patch or donating to this incredible organization.
